"There are no indigenous French"
In France, Rama Yade, a former minister in Sarkozy's government, proclaims there are no indigenous French.
Meanwhile, in Germany, the constitution of the state of North Rhine Westphalia (which contains the city of Cologne) has been changed so elected officials no longer need to swear to work for the "German people". Instead, their allegiance will be to "the state of North Rhine Westphalia".
The five political groupings only agreed on a series of smaller constitutional changes. For example, the oath that members of the state government must take will be changed. Instead of swearing to work for the benefit of the "German people" future ministers will swear to work for the benefit "of the state of North Rhine Westphalia". The ministers are thus swearing to take all people in North Rhine Westphalia into account, not only the people with a German passport.Source
