Regarding the demonstration, we have 41% of French people who condemn it. They are thus a minority of the French population. ... The same proportion, 42%, do not approve of this reaction but understand it. So we can see how the tectonic plates are shifting in French society. Finally, a core of 17% approve of the reaction, which is a relatively high figure.

Broken down by party affiliation, the approve figure was 10% for Left Front, 5% for Socialists, 20% for Republicans, 44% for Front National. It's interesting that the quasi-Communist Left Front voters showed higher approval than the mainstream Left Socialists.
