Uproar in Bâle-Campagne: a secondary school in Therwil has granted a dispensation to young Muslim pupils from shaking the hands of female teaching staff. This decision was taken after two young Muslims said they had problems with this custom, because in their religion they claim that a man does not have the right to touch a woman if she is not his own or if she is not a member of his family.
Similar cases have also been reported in Muttenz (BL), revealed the Sunday newspaper Schweiz am Sonntag.
