I've only really started following the Italian patriotic scene recently. The "far right" Lega Nord does seem to have much more mainstream acceptance in Italy than comparable parties would have elsewhere, as Berlusconi, a former Italian prime minister, turning up their rallies demonstrates. There were Northern League ministers in Berlusconi governments. Perhaps this is the ultimate route to mainstream acceptance for patriotic parties. Of course, in most of Europe, the non-patriotic parties are banding together to keep alternatives out. But as "far-right" support continually grows, the "cordon sanitaire" has to break down sometime.
