The number of antisemitic acts (violent actions and threats) counted by the Ministry of the Interior and the SPCJ [Jewish Community Protection Service] has been established at 508 for the period going from 1 January to 31 May 2015. This figure represents an increase of 84% compared to the same period in 2014 and 161% compared to the same period in 2013.
Furthermore, within these actions, the number of violent actions (121) continues to worsen, increasing by 59% from January to May 2015 compared to the same period in 2014.
This very clear worsening is unfortunately not a surprise for the CRIF [Representative Council of the Jewish Associations of France]. In our country, antisemitism is benefiting from ever more effective levers, thanks especially to the internet, the main factor in propagating antisemitic ideas into public opinion, but also thanks to the recurrent impunity that a certain number of notorious antisemites enjoy.
The CRIF demands that the government review the laws on social networks applicable in France (Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, Google) in order to confront them with civil and legal penalties faced with their responsibilities.Source
